Literati or windswept?

This is my False Cypress Boulevard and I was wondering if it is Literati or windswept style.

Or a mixture of both?

Natter night 28th March 2016.

I do love Monday's.
I also love my natter nights as I never know what it will bring.

My display for the night.

Ken M brought this nice Scots Pine for a repot as it was starting to lift out of the pot.

After the repot I checked the Shari and found some very soft wood, which was removed and treated with Tree Gum to preserve it.

This Common Juniper, also Ken's was left here a few weeks ago, I did a little work on it before anyone arrived.

The Juniper looks much better now.

Ken also brought back his Juniper group as he thought the large tree was leaning to the right and did not like it.

So after a little extra wire the problem was solved.

Yet another successful night's work.

Saturday 26 March 2016

Three small ones.

I have been working on three of my smaller Chinese Juniper's and think they are looking good at the moment.

Same photo with bug spray added for size comparison.

All they need now is a good growing season.

All out.

Today I now have all of my trees out on the benches as the sun is actually shining once more.

Chuhin and Shohin sized trees.

Juniper, Larch and Hawthorn forest.

Itoigawa Junipers.

Boulevard,Redwood, Maple and another Boulevard.

Boulevard Hawthorn and Hemlock.

All my trees are showing good growth and are enjoying the sunshine.

Chinese Juniper, first styling.

After all the work I have done on my studio this week it was nice to get back to working on Bonsai.

I have been waiting until the weather was warm enough before starting the work, as I wanted to save the cutting's.

After the cutting's were removed I could get started on the wiring.

The cutting's were planted up into a plastic pot and placed into the green house.

After the styling, the tree has emerged from the bush.

The overhead view.

I am very pleased with the final result.

My pot display shelves.

After a few days work, I have at last finished my new display shelves in the studio.

Now they are done I have placed the pots and can see them better.

More space means the pots do not need to be squashed up so much.

At least for now.

But only until I buy some more.

More space needed update.

I posted on Saturday that my pot display shelves were now full and I needed more space, well no sooner said than done.

I now have plenty of space for more pots.

Many more pots.

Natter night 21st March 2016.

Monday night once more and another productive night, as there was only one tree brought along by Ken M, this was all we had to work on.

A Juniper forest which Ken usually brings along for a yearly clip out.
This is the front view before working.

The rear view before.

The front after clipping.

The rear after clipping. The small stump on the right has died making a six trunk group, so we will be looking for another tree to replace it with.

The clippings on the floor, it is amazing how much was removed.

A good night with good company.

Saturday 19 March 2016

Typical.

Today has been one of them days when it has been overcast and dull all day, then at half five when it is time for the sun to go down it starts to shine.

Not a cloud in the sky,Typical !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More space needed.

My pot display shelves are full so I will have to stop buying pots

No way, I will have to build more.

Two more from Bigei.

I have added two more pots from Bigei to my collection.

Beautiful bamboo rope effect.

Absolutely gorgeous colours on this one.

I love Bigei pot's as they are so tactile.

Old times.

Today I was back doing what I did for a living for a lot of years, driving a fork lift, but this time it was a favor for a friend. I went up to Wattston Bonsai to unload a container that arrived from Japan, I had the easy part as all the other helpers were unpacking and moving contents of trees, pots, compost and all things Bonsai.

Like riding a bike, you never forget how, even though it is eight years since I gave it up.

The grand opening.

Boxies of wire were first out.

Then crates of trees, like kids in a sweet shop.

Just some of the pots, these ones are all Bigei.

I must buy a lotto ticket tomorrow, and hope.

Monday 14 March 2016

Natter night 14th March 2016.

Once again a very busy night with all sorts of Bonsai work going on.

I started with this Acer Palmatum, which needed a repot, but I had to wait until the buds were starting to swell.

Which they are at the moment.

This tree was indeed in need of a repot when you see the roots it has.

After the circular roots had been taken off there were still too many so it was reduced even more.

Back in the same pot, but with much more room to grow.

Margery's Flowering Cherry was also repotted.

Ken did some pruning on this Blackthorn.

Andy worked on a Maple.

John brought a Boxwood to be carved.

This tree was dead down one side with a large stump on top. The stump on the left I have left for John to practice on.

Just a basic block carving which will be refined at a later date.

Another busy but productive night.
