Hasty.

Just a week ago I was looking at this Potentilla and thought it had not made it through Winter, as there were no signs of any new growth.
But when looking now there is some nice green shoots starting to show.

If you look really close you can see the new growth.

Where there is life there is hope.

I think maybe it was having a lie in after Winter.

Spring.

The last day of Spring time as British Summer time starts tomorrow.
--------------------------------------------------------

Time for a look around the trees.

Itoigawa juniper.

Hawthorn, covered in flower buds.

Itoigawa juniper.

Acer Palmatum bursting into leaf.

Procumbens juniper, looking good.

Procumbens juniper and Itoigawa juniper.

Hemlock.

Taxus.

Dawn Redwood also bursting into leaf.

Cotoneaster group growing strong.

It is always nice to see the new growth once more.

Bear facts.

If you go down to the woods today your in for a big surprise.
-----------------------------------------------------

Natter night 25th March 2019.

It turned into a busy night with all sorts of Bonsai work going on.
----------------------------------------------------
Graham brought his Juniper back to work on.

He added even more wire.

Then we started to give it a trim.

He could not resist a final tweak.

----------------------------------

Meanwhile Ken did a repot on his flowering cherry. Assisted by Mike.

Note the chopsticks to enable the tie wire to hold the tree in the pot.

Now has plenty room for new roots.

--------------------------------

Paul brought this variegated juniper for some advice.

Assisted by Mike they came up with some good ideas for a styling.

A good photo of Mike, until you see what it say's on the back of Graham's jacket.

Yet another good night of fun and Bonsai.

Bonsai Thursday.

A nice relaxed morning with Dave today after a busy one yesterday.
-----------------------------------------------
I did some more work on my Hemlock, which I find very relaxing.

Back on the bench, I am pleased with it's progression so far.

Late finish.

After an early start to my day when Carl arrived at 7-30 this morning and my evening with John and Tony only stopping at 9 o'clock, to say I am tired is an understatement.
------------------------------------------------------

Tonight I started to do a little work on this Hemlock after it had been left most of last season to regain some vigor in the foliage.

A little wire and a slight trim has made a difference.

Still a little more to do, but in the morning when Dave comes over.

Improving all the time.

Early start.

I have had a real early start today, when Carl M from way down West Cumbria came for his first ever workshop.
-------------------------------------------
This first tree, a Beech, which he got off Robert Porch last year.

The second tree, a White Pine, also from Robert.

I started by wiring the first branch and showing Carl how to apply the wire.
Then kept an eye on him as he did the rest of the tree.

Before tweaking we decided this would be the best angle and front view for it.

The image that was created.

Carl was pleased with the outcome.

Meanwhile Boxy was repotting the White Pine into an Ian Baillie pot.

Carl now knows how much work goes into creating an image.
I hope he enjoyed his day as much as I did.
