Winter quarters.

I have finally put the last of my trees into their winter quarters today, after the amount of rain we had over the last few days I thought it was the right time to avoid water logging.

Nicely snuggled up for a while.

My Sensei Dave's Larch has also been rewired this week and is looking good.

Natter night 23rd November 2015.

A quiet night as far as trees to work on, but the usual visitors turned up, only one tree this Pine brought by Andy P.

Although the tree has had a good season it is still not ready to be worked on yet so will be left for a while.

As I now have the painting of myself done by Brian W, I just had to show it off to my visitors.

Not quite a scroll but it made a nice display.

Once again my thanks to Brian.

Taxus Cuspidata.

I started to rewire this Taxus Cuspidata yesterday and got so far then had to stop and go to work.

I hope to get it fully wired and styled very soon.

I will post photos when finished.

Natter night 16th November 2015.

A few more visitors tonight, seven in total, turned up for my natter night, even some trees to work on.

Very busy in the studio.

This Juniper Communis was dewired then given a clip and partial rewire.

Very sharp needles on this one Mike.

Starting to take shape.

John G brought his Hornbeam to work on.

With some assistance from Mike R it is looking better.

I left my newly styled larch in the studio for my visitors to have a look at.

Yet another enjoyable night with good company.

Larch update.

I finally found some time to finish the Larch I started on Monday, here is a photo of the finished image.

I still think the tree needs to be potted at a slight angle to the right as the trunk seems to be too straight.
I will do this in spring when repotting.

Natter night 9th November 2015.

The weather almost put paid to natter night tonight, but John G ventured out, so I was not alone in the studio.

The tall Larch in this first photo had dropped all it's foliage so I decided to start a full wire job.

I managed to get about half way tonight and will finish it over the next couple of days.

Just the apex to do now.

Before anyone arrived I cleaned the bark on this Common Juniper and removed the moss from the surface of the compost, so the tree gets plenty of air into the roots over Winter and not hold too much water.

Looks much happier now.

I also like to do a small display in the studio on a Monday night if I have the room.

On the left is a Squamata Juniper, center tree a Hinoki and on the right a small Larch.

November chat at Willowbog.2015.

A great day was had by all those who attended the chat day at Willowbog Bonsai.

This is what the chat day is all about, chatting and working with little trees.

Group discussion.

A nice Larch.

Pine before any work.

After work, now well on it's way to becoming a nice Bonsai.

David and Jane's Yew.

The same Yew after a good tweak.

Good work John.

The wiring is getting better David.

A nice Hemlock and Antony looks like he is saying, nothing to do with me

Chinese Elm

Sam was looking for a new pot for this Chinese Juniper.

If you look close you can even see a rainbow in the back ground.

Well into Autumn now.

I even managed to find a new pot for my collection.

Winter is coming as today was the first time for Jeans soup for lunch and very welcome it was.

Bonsai Thursday.

Thursday is one of my days off work, so I have plenty of time to work on my trees.

Today it was the turn of this small Hinoki Cypress.

First job was to clean up the bark.

I will not say front and back, as this tree looks good all round.

After wiring and a clip out.

The other side after work.

The final image.

I am pleased with the outcome.

Then and now.

I have been looking at some old photos from a few years ago and came across this one of a Squamata Juniper as it was before any work was done.

I am very happy with the way this tree is coming along.

Natter night 2nd November 2015.

I am sorry to tell you I had a senior moment last night as I forgot to take any photos of the trees that were brought along to be worked on.
However this is one of Sue's Shohin that she brought to have some clean up work done.

This photo is from a couple of months ago and the tree is showing good growth at the moment.

I also had one extra visitor last night, Dan from Barrow in the south of the county, who I met at Bonsai Europa last month.
Hope to see you again soon Dan.

Chinese Juniper.

I have spent a bit of time this afternoon tidying this Chinese Juniper.
