Bonsai Wednesday.

Once again nobody brought anything to work on, so rather than do nothing I decided to place these saplings on the new slab I brought back from Doncaster.
-------------------------------------------------
They are two year old Crab Apples.

The group of five on the left were separated and turned on the slab, as the tallest tree was on the outside.

Then a little wire added, just to incline some of the others a little.

Quite a nice image was formed.

I can't wait to see how this develops over the next few seasons.

Natter night 29th October 2018.

It is the time of year when we struggle to have any trees that we can do any work on, apart from cleaning up the debris that has collected on the top of the pot.
-----------------------------------------------

Ken brought this Fir to show how some small branches have died this season. We thought it may have been due to the very hot weather we had earlier in the year.

It is not really a problem as they were only small branches so they were removed.

However the roll over on the Shari looks very good.

I even got a good photo of Ken's best side.

Another of Ken's trees, a Buxus, needed a bit of work on the dead wood parts.

Which Boxy did very well.

Then Boxy did his impression of an Australian Box tree.

Bonsai is about learning and having fun along the way.

Bargains from BTA Doncaster.

Here are some of the bargains I got at the BTA show. I needed a fix of buying pots.
--------------------------------------------------

A nice China mist slab pot.

Two from Ian Baillie.

Only one from Tony Remington.

Two Japanese pots from David Cheshire.

There is no cure from collecting pots.

Doncaster BTA show.

Today Robert, Boxy and I attended the BTA show in Doncaster and we had a really good day, catching up with old and new friends, also picking up a few bargains.
----------------------------------------
A good sales area to peruse around.

A few pots to chose from.

Of course some very nice trees.

Suiseki as well.

All in all a good day out.

Not many left.

My Maple has almost lost most of it's leaves now.
----------------------------------------------
This is a good time to examine the branch structure and make any changes.

The tree a week ago, looked beautiful but you could not see the branches.

Transformed Juniper.

I have been looking through my photos and came across one of this juniper when I first obtained it.
----------------------------------------------
I must admit that I was unsure what to do with this tree at this time.

But now I am very pleased I persevered with it.

Before anyone asks, I think it took about eight years to achieve this result.

Wire off.

Two more of my trees have had the wire removed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
As this Berberis is getting ready for winter it is a good time to remove the wire.

While in the mood this Itoigawa also had the wire taken off.

Bonsai Thursday.

Today Dave and I did some work on another bogwood pot.
------------------------------------------------------
This time we are thinking of putting a Cotoneaster into it for a change.

The view from above.

It should make an interesting combination.

Bonsai Wednesday.

I started off tonight by taking the wire off one of my Squamata junipers.
--------------------------------------------

Then Tony arrived, so I handed him the wire cutters and left him to finish it off, as he enjoys removing wire.

John brought this Maple group, which belongs to a neighbor of his.It has just been left all season to regain some vigor.

Time for a clip out and something of a first skeletal image.

John made sure I did it right.

Quite a pile of clippings.

Looks a lot better now.

John and Tony trying to decide who was making the coffee.

Yet another fun night with quite a lot of work done.
