Bonsai Thursday.

Once again it was a morning of weeding, trimming and cleaning, only this time on my Berberis.
-------------------------------------------------------

Before any work.

After the work was done.

Bonsai Wednesday.

Weeding, trimming and cleaning tonight.
-----------------------------------------

First job on this Hemlock was to remove the weeds, which were taking over.

The compost was then top dressed and the pot cleaned.

After it had a slight trim.

Coming along nicely.

Turn around.

Do you turn your trees very often ?
-------------------------------------------

You should, everyone has a viewing angle that they like the best and want to see their trees from there. But if your trees are not turned on a regular basis they will grow one sided. They should be turned a quarter turn once a week throughout the growing season, to promote even growth all over.

We all like to view our trees from the front, but if you are getting guests and they are round the other way, by all means display them how you will, but return to the angle where they will benefit the most.

Also by doing this you get to see different things in your trees, because you are looking at them longer at another angle.

I have been turning my trees but not as regularly as I should have been.

After a discussion with Robert Porch a couple of weeks ago, I am now.

Just pick a day and stick to it every week.

The face.

Who is hiding in my Procumbens Juniper ?
------------------------------------

Ruthless clean out.

I have finished having a very ruthless clean out of the studio this week.
-------------------------------------------------

I have even had a tidy up under the benches as well.

Anything I did not like the look of has gone in the bin.

Revamped the photo taking area as well.

My awards from the SBA show in Troon last month have pride of place.

Now I will not be able to find anything.

Bonsai Wednesday.

I have been having a closer look at this Chinese Juniper and noticed quite a lot of yellow foliage.
----------------------------------------------
I was given this tree a couple of months ago without a pot, so it was potted up and kept in the shade house to recover. The yellow foliage is a result of this and should be alright.

I gently combed it out with my fingertips to remove all the yellow bits.

There was quite a lot.

The tree is growing very strong so I am not unduly worried.

Potentila.

Although my Potentila is full of flowers it was looking overgrown, so today I have given it a good trim.

Looks much neater now and the flowers will grow back.

No watering today then.

It looks like I will not have to water the trees tonight as the rain is tipping down.
-------------------------------------

My Hawthorn from the back, even without flowers it still looks good.

Quite a change from last night when we were working in the sunshine.

A small Cotoneaster.

Chinese Elm.

A windswept Hawthorn.

Driftwood cleaned.

Today I have cleaned and treated the driftwood for my latest Tanuki.

Really like this image and it should only get better with age.
