Potentila.

A new potentila added to my benches.

Already had a clip since arriving, it has the potential to become a nice Bunjin.

Natter night 30th May 2016.

Bank holiday Monday, but still a busy night, with Ken bringing two trees to work on. First his Cork bark Elm needed some guy wires on to hold a few branches in place.

Ken  helped Boxie to apply the guy wires.

After the lower branches were pulled down, it was decided not to wire the upper part until it shows better growth.

The second of Ken's trees an Azalea which needed a repot now the flowers have finished.

Now in a new pot, much better than a plastic training pot.

Another good night in the sunshine with good friends.

Cascade Cotoneaster.

This Cascade Cotoneaster is coming along nicely and even starting to flower.

A very young tree, but should be nice in a couple of years.

Mini Azalea.

My mini Azalea is coming into flower at last.

There are only five flower buds at the moment, but who knows if that is all.

Mugo pot.

While Robert was doing a styling on Ken's Mugo Pine last weekend he said he had a pot that would suit it very well.

How right he was, this pot by Walsall Studio Ceramics looks spot on to me.

All we have to do now is get Ken to buy the pot, then bring them together.

A union made in heaven.

All out again.

Not a call for industrial action, but the flowers on my Hawthorn, just had to share.

Safely home.

This afternoon we delivered Ken's workshop tree back to his home and put it back on the patio where it has stood for a long time.
Only now it looks a whole lot better than it did before.

Ken's Triple trunk Chinese Juniper also looks very good as well.

On the deck with display benches.

This view from the deck at Ken's home always amazes me as it changes every few seconds.

It was a dull day but the sun managed to shine through a little.

Returning Ken's trees.

I am about to set off to return Ken's trees after the workshop.

Just shows how big this Mugo Pine really is.

Shohin Common Juniper.

I have had this Common Juniper for some time now and decided the time is right for a light prune.

This was taken last year.

After pruning yesterday.

This tree can be viewed from all sides, so I am not sure which one I like best.

Mame Juniper.

About the middle of last year I was pruning a Chinese juniper and decided to try planting one of the branches I removed into this ball of moss, I once used as an accent. It is still growing strong and looks very healthy, so I now have a Mame Bonsai to look forward to styling.

I find cuttings from Chinese Juniper are very easy to root and have many of them.
There was a time in my Bonsai journey when I struggled to keep them alive, let alone grow from cuttings.
Guess I must have learned something along the way.

Natter night 23rd May 2016.

It turned out it was Robert's birthday today and as he was coming for my get together tonight we had a small party for him.

Happy birthday Robert.

Then he cut the cake the Glasgow way.

Just a little thank you to a really nice guy for conducting the workshop on Saturday.
------------------------------------------

We did have some trees tonight, brought by Dan from the south of the county.
Both of them were Larch and he hit lucky that Robert was here as he got some good advice about the styling of them.

Both of them have the potential to become nice Bonsai.

Yet another good natter night, thanks to all who came.

Ken's Juniper.

This was Ken's juniper after the workshop last Saturday with Robert.

Now after the live vein has been cleaned and the deadwood coated with lime sulpher

How marvelous that the Jin has grown as well.

Hawthorn update.

Most of the flowers on my Hawthorn are now open, it almost looks like snow on the top.

I love it with flowers on.

What can I say?

I was at a loss for words on this one.

Captions please.

Dig that shirt man.

Robert Porch workshop 21st may 2016.

I don't know where to start to tell the story about the excellent day we had with Robert here at "Ronin Bonsai", so I will let the photos do it.

I would like to thank Robert on behalf of myself and all who attended the workshop for a brilliant day of fun and tuition.
