Clean up, Itoigawa Juniper.

I had a choice tonight, either strictly or Bonsai, Bonsai won.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the Itoigawa juniper I decided to work on, just clear the weeds and clean the Shari, I thought.

But got carried away and trimmed the foliage as well.

Pleased I did as much, because it now looks much neater.

Mugo Pine.

My Mugo Pine now has a new pot.
------------------------------------------------------------

It is also a lot lighter now,so easier to move.

Bonsai Wednesday.

Neither John nor Tony brought a tree tonight so as I did not sell this Boulevard Cypress last weekend  at Doncaster boot sale,I decided to do a restyle on it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
After a clean up of the Shari and Jin.

I started to wire.

John looked impressed.

Tony was happy.

The tree looked much better.

I was pleased with the outcome.

The sun came out.

After a good day at the Doncaster boot sale, I now have more room for my trees, as the sun has come out I have just taken these two photos.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The trees look better with more room and the sunshine.

Natter night 24th September 2018.

I have almost recovered from our trip to Doncaster yesterday, which is just as well as I have just finished with my natter night.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Graham brought this Deshojo maple to work on.

Which just had a little wire added.

A bit better shape now.

Ken brought back this Spruce as it had been blown completely out of the pot during the storm last week.

It was potted up into this large mica pot and wired in, so it will not come out until we want it out.

The natter part of natter night.

Now one for Graham's wife Kirstie, this is where the chocolate tea cakes went.

They were nice.

Sunday 23 September 2018

Markham Grange boot sale.

Boxy and I made the trip down to Doncaster today for the boot sale and Shohin show and what a great day we had.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
There were plenty of people shopping at the boot sale.

As well as plenty of stalls.

Trade stands as well.

Talks and demo's.

Some very nice Shohin trees on the display stands.

It was a long drive for us but well worth a visit to meet up with a lot of very nice people.

Ready for boot sale.

That's it then, the car is loaded up ready for the Bonsai boot sale at Markham Grange Nursery tomorrow morning.
----------------------------------------------------------

We have a three hour run to get there, so it will be an early start.
If you are about come and see me for some bargains.

Help an OAP .

Bonsai Wednesday.

After the weather we have had today I fully expected to be repairing storm damage, I was not wrong, Dev arrived with a Hawthorn that had been blown over and the pot smashed. It was placed into a new Walsal pot and fixed without disturbing any roots.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

It should be OK in it's new pot.

John brought this collected Hawthorn for some advice about styling.
The new growth on the top was removed along with the bark and two new leaders were chosen.

We will leave the carving until spring.
Honestly.

Bigei pot.

One of my favorite pots by one of my favorite potters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The quality is something else.

Bigei.

Boulevard Cypress, then and now.

One of my Boulevard Cypress about one year after collecting from a garden.

These next two photos  are after the first styling.

Finally how it looks this morning.

Growing really well and healthy.

Saturday 15 September 2018

Bug's.

I think the bugs know that winter is coming along early this year as they seem to be busy in the garden getting ready.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There seems to be a lot of spiders and moths this year, as well as green fly and other pests.
So I have been fighting back with a good bug spray.

This Hemlock is one that the green fly seems to like.

Nothing much bothers my Dawn Redwood.

Itoigawa juniper growing well.

Finally, some of the trees I am taking to the boot sale at Doncaster.

Hope to see lots of old friends and make some new ones as well.

Thursday 13 September 2018

Bonsai Thursday.

I have been looking forward to Dave arriving today, so that we could put together the Procumbens Juniper and the piece of driftwood that we prepared.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The driftwood fixed into the pot.

The tree.

Brought together.

The rear view.

After a clip and some wire added.

A nice image for a first styling.
