Night shot.

I have just been outside to get my camera from the studio and I thought this would make a nice photo.

The bird bath with the trees behind.

Storm damage.

After a storm in January this Pot by Bigei was smashed and I thought lost for ever, but my good friend Robert Porch has repaired it for me using the Japanese method of Kintsugi.

To say I am pleased is an understatement.

My sincere thanks to Robert.

Sunshine.

At last a little bit of sunshine after all the storms, still a bit windy but no rain at the moment.

Thursday 20 February 2020

Bonsai Thursday.

Looking round the garden this morning I noticed the trees are starting to awaken.

Mainly Hawthorns at the moment, but nice to see them moving.

Tuesday 18 February 2020

Wind's abating.

As the wind's of the storms are abating I have replaced the trees on the display benches.

I hate to see the benches almost bare, they look better full of trees.

Natter night 17th February 2020.

With the remnants of storm Dennis still lingering we were a little down on visitors tonight.

So I took the opportunity to sort out the dead branch on my Hemlock.

We had a good look at the branch that died but could not see what had caused it.
After removing it some rewiring was done and branches re-positioned to fill the space.
The final image is, I think better than it was before.

Sunday 16 February 2020

Hemlock, branch loss.

It looks like my Hemlock has lost a branch as it has changed colour.

I will have to investigate whether it has been broken by the wind or something else.

Kintsugi.

A very nice Japanese pot which was broken, then repaired by Robert Porch, using the art of Kintsugi.

Saturday 15 February 2020

Storm Dennis.

I have deliberately left most of the trees on the ground as storm Dennis is coming over this weekend.

Friday 14 February 2020

Privet update.

Here is the latest photo of a Privet done this week.

Yes, carved and wired almost at the same time.

But it was wired just to put a little shape into the branches.

Thursday 13 February 2020

Bonsai Thursday.

Today was a carving day with Dave on a big Privet.
-------------------------------------------------
The idea was to remove the bulk of unwanted wood, refinement will come later.

Ronin Bonsai new page.

I now have a new home page on Facebook. Ronin Bonsai - Posts I will still be posting on my blog but also to the new page.
-------------------------------------------------

I hope you all enjoy it.

Sunday 9 February 2020

Storm damage.

Oh no I have a tree down in the garden.
---------------------------------------------------

Lucky it was a Shohin sized Juniper.

Saturday 8 February 2020

Storm Ciara on the way.

Looks like the forecasters are right about storm Ciara, so be prepared folks, batten down the hatches.
Take some precautions and be safe.
---------------------------------------

Trees off the benches and on the ground stops them from falling and breaking the pots.

Hope all my friends and their trees are safe.

Friday 7 February 2020

Yet another Privet.

I tried to sell this Privet last year at a Bonsai boot sale, but alas no takers, so I decided to start working on it myself.
---------------------------------------------

First job was to find a front view.

Then a repot with a slight change of angle.

Well tied in with a good free draining compost.

A good start.

Thursday 6 February 2020

Privet Bonsai 2.

After my last post I added some wire to this Privet to spread the branches a little more.
----------------------------------------------

Before wiring.

After wiring to create an image.

All we need now is Spring to make it grow.

Wednesday 5 February 2020

Privet bonsai.

This is my next task, a quite big Privet.
----------------------------------------

Just needs to be wired and styled and a bit of carving.

Monday 3 February 2020

Natter night 3rd February 2020.

Boxy arrived a little early today and decided to do some more wiring on his Hornbeam.
Happy at his work.

Looking good mike.

Kevin brought this tree to show us how it is growing.
The front

The back, looks good from both sides.

Graham's Larch, as it was last week.

A lot of wiring to do, but many hands make light work.

After a tweak. Still to many branches and to long, but these will be trimmed after the buds break.
