False Cypress 2nd update.

After the repot on Monday I decided to reduce the foliage a little and to add some more wire.

This is after the rewire and clip, I also created some Jin from the dead branch stumps and joined them up with Shari.

A long way to go but getting there.

Natter night 7th March 2016.

A little bit quiet tonight but we still managed to keep busy when Ken brought this Japanese Black Pine to be realigned in the pot.

Not so much a repot, although we did remove some root to allow us to get the tree into the pot at the right angle.

Ken and Boxie removing the tree from the pot.

After the work the tree is now sitting right in the pot.

The tree will be left to recover for a while, then it will be tweaked a little.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also did a bit of Spring cleaning on my Hawthorn group planting.

After removing all the debris from the top of the compost, I replaced with new compost.

The whole composition looks much neater now.

False Cypress update.

I have just repotted this False cypress Boulevard into it's first Bonsai training pot.

This is just after it was collected.

First styling.

Today after the repot.

Still a long way to go, but looking better.

My pots.

I have added two more pots to my collection today.

Both from Walsall studio ceramics.

I love the glaze on these pots.

Willowbog chat 5th March 2016.

What a great day we had once more up at Willowbog Bonsai for the chat day.

Everyone got straight down to working on their trees.
It was nice to see Brian back once more.

Jane , busy as usual.

Peter G doing a repot for a friend.

Ron back down from Scotland for the day.

John H, also doing a bit of repotting.

Brian , working on a small Pine.

The Hartlepool gang also attended, welcome back Tony.

Anthony, with a nice Hornbeam.

Yet another Brian, repotting.

I asked Jane to take a photo of myself helping Brian with his Scots Pine.

She said there was to much light off my head, so I covered it up.
Who said I only take the mick out on others ?

Jean's soup was welcome once more at lunch time.

A nice flowering Cherry, just been repotted.

A Shohin Yew also repotted.

Who was finished first ?

An all round good day out once more.

Spring clean.

My job for today was to do a clean up on this Hawthorn.

The soil surface was covered with all sorts of rubbish from over Winter.

The trunk was covered in moss.

After the clean up.

Soil surface much tidier.

The trunk cleaned up with soapy water and a brush.

I have also coated the deadwood with tree gum to help preserve it, when this dries I will coat it with Lime sulpher.

Windy.

I could not believe the wind in the studio the other night.

It even moved the scroll.
