Thursday 23 August 2018

Bonsai Thursday.

Another one of them wet days, which we seem to get more of, so there was not much we could do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We did add a small amount of wire to a couple of trees, just to continue with placing branches for future styling.
Quite a thick trunk Maple was the first.

This Potentila was next.

Starting to take shape.

Natter night 20th August 2018.

A little busier tonight as people come back off holiday.
--------------------------------------------------------

The lesson for tonight is on Larch.

Graham doing some pruning on this tall Larch.

Ken's Larch was also pruned.

Ken and Tony having a look at the trees I am selling.

Robert's Itoigawa juniper, looking good.

Humor is a big part of natter night and the banter was great.

Monday 20 August 2018

Pots and stands.

Some of the pots and stands I am getting rid of.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Accent pots.

Two bigger ones.

Sunday 19 August 2018

Clean out.

It has been said recently that I have too much stuff, so I am having a clean out.
-------------------------------------------------------
All these trees on the table are for sale, from now, and if not sold before hand, I will be taking them to the boot sale at Doncaster in September.

Also some stands and a few pots.

As long as I can get them in the car.

Bonsai Thursday.

For once Dave came empty handed, but he already had a Procumbens juniper here and he had been thinking about it all week.
--------------------------------------------------

Rather than do the usual thing and making a Cascade, he decided to stand the tree in an upwards movement.

Just a little foliage removed.

Some Jin work and some wire added.

A nice image for a first styling.

I also did some work on this Itoigawa juniper, by turning the apex into Jin and coating with Lime Sulpher.

Smaller but more refined

A good morning's work.

Wednesday 15 August 2018

Bonsai Wednesday.

Tony was the first to arrive tonight and when he did I was removing wire from an Itoigawa juniper, as he enjoys taking wire off I left him to do it.

After the wire was removed , the tree was placed back on the bench.

Has anyone noticed how the night's are drawing in ? Only just after eight o'clock and getting dark.

So I turned on the outside light and hey presto, the trees now look much better.

Bug's away.

I have always said, prevention is better than cure, so I have been spraying the trees with a pest control once more.
---------------------------------------------------------
I love the colour the foliage turns when I spray with the pest control.

A really vivid green.

Job done for a few weeks.

Monday 13 August 2018

Natter night 13th August 2018.

It is well seeing the holiday season is here as the number of visitors was well down tonight, but we still got some work done and had a laugh.
---------------------------------

This afternoon I made a new stand for this Procumbens juniper.

Tonight I did some work on another Itoigawa juniper.

This one.

Boxy kept us entertained though.

Down on numbers, but still an enjoyable night.

Monday.

It is Monday again and it's pixxxxg down, sorry raining again.
------------------------------------------------
Itoigawa Juniper.

So what to do ! Get a tree in the studio and work on it.

Just a slight trim and clean up.

Why do one when you can do two.

Saturday 11 August 2018

Saturday night in the garden.

I have had a look round the garden tonight at the trees, just to make sure they are secure for tomorrow, as the forecast is not very good.
------------------------------------------------------
Hemlock.

Juniper.

Procumbens juniper.

Tony sent me some photos of the Mugo pine when he dug it up from the garden, this is one of them.

The Mugo pine now.

To practice your wiring you have to make your name out of wire.

Friday 10 August 2018

No need to water.

It looks like I will not need to water the trees today, as nature is doing it for me.

I will check the pots though, just in case it missed any.

Thursday 9 August 2018

Instant Bonsai.

Is there such a thing ?
--------------------------------------------------

No, but you can come close.
Tree in pot and a quick clip.

Looks quite good. Took about thirty seconds.

Love working with Procumbens juniper.

Bonsai Thursday with Dave.

Once again when Dave arrived he was carrying our next project.

More Bogwood and another Procumbens Juniper.

Yes it will fit.

Almost there.

After a final trim, looking good.
