Success at Troon.

I was very pleased with my success at the S B A show at Troon today, when My Hawthorn was voted best deciduous tree and my Procumbens Juniper best evergreen and best in show.
----------------------------------------------------

My sincere thanks to the organizers and to all who voted for my displays.
Also to Robert Porch and Boxy for helping me.

S B A National show Troon, Scotland.

Boxy and I set off early to go to the S B A show up in Troon today for our usual visit to a good show and day out.
--------------------------------------------------
I loaded up the car last night.

First stop breakfast.

Unloaded my trees into the waiting area.

Along with some of the others.

Then set up my displays.

Some of the other trees on show.

Sorry if I missed some.

New display stand.

On Wednesday the lady next door asked me if I could make use of a table lamp base, of coarse I said yes, this is how it turned out.
----------------------------------------------
It was varnished dark brown with a hole in the center and after adding a bit of brush pole to fill the hole, then sanding, then a few coats of wax, it looks quite good.

The hole filler came up a different colour, so using a small blow torch I made a feature of it.

A nice stand with a Bonsai on it.

Of coarse you cannot see it when there is a tree on it anyhow.

Bonsai Wednesday.

There were no trees brought tonight, so we just had a good talk about all sorts of things, but we did have a good look at my trees in the garden.
--------------------------------------------------
Tony took this photo of me with my Hawthorn with more flowers on than ever before.

If you would like a close up look at it, then come along to the S B A show in Troon in Bonnie Scotland on Sunday 5th May, as it will be on display.

Natter night 29th April 2019

Tonight seemed to be all about group plantings.
------------------------------------------

This Maple group, brought by Graham, was the first to arrive for a bit of work.

After some work and instruction for Graham, who is learning quite quickly about Bonsai.

Next is Ken's Juniper group, back for yet another trim.

After working you can now see the trunks a lot better.

Graham also brought this nice Deshojo Maple for a little tweak.

The apex needs to fill in a little, but is becoming a good image.
