Bonsai Thursday with Dave.

My day with Dave was a day of discussion about the state of the world and putting it right, { I don't Think }

We also talked about Bonsai and did a little more work on this Larch.

The work done was to the Jin and Shari on the tree.

Still needs a bit more, but for now I will let it rest over Winter.

John's visit today.

I have had another visit from John R to day and he brought back this Boulevard Cypress, this time it was all wired up ready to be tweaked.

This is how it arrived.

After tweaking and a little extra wire was added, it is now much more open.

This tree will be repotted in spring and fed well next year to create a lot better ramification.

Natter night 7th Nov 2016.

I started a little early tonight as I wanted to do some work on one of my Larch trees.

The first job was to remove the last of the needles.

Then I wired the whole tree.

All wired up and ready to tweak into place.

After tweaking I noticed the left side of the trunk was obscured by foliage, so out came the shears.

I was really pleased with the result.

Margery removed the wire from her Flowering Cherry.

Susan brought this tree which was the first one she ever bought from a garden center.
We were all trying to find out what it is by looking through books. Has anyone got any ideas ?

A close up of a leaf.

Boxie continued to wire his Juniper.

Plenty of work done tonight.

Nudes.

I thought that title would get your attention.

But I mean the trees almost completely bare.

Dawn Redwood.

Hawthorn.

Larch.

Hawthorn group.

Potentilla.

While it is a good time to see the ramification on the trees I still like to see them full of foliage.
Only about fourteen weeks or so to wait until I will be looking for the new buds to show themselves.

Bonsai Thursday with Dave.

Dave and I had another good day with this Juniper he brought with him, as it had been lying around his garden for a number of years,[ he thought it was dead,] but when he came across it again and noticed the foliage growing on it.

The deadwood was a bit of a mess, so a good tidy was in order.

We also had to find the live vein that is feeding the new growth.

It took quite a long time to find what we were looking for.

Once it was cleaned we applied a coat of tree gum, which is a natural tree resin, to preserve and seal the deadwood.

We still have a lot of work to do and I for one am looking forward to doing it.
We think it needs to be repotted at a better angle in Spring time and then to be given a good feed for at least a year to develop strong growth before a restyle.

Natter night 31st Oct 2016.

I think a lot of my usual visitors must have been out trick or treating tonight as it was a little quiet.

As usual Ken brought one of his Common Junipers for a clip and a bit clean up.

This is one of two that he has and is looking very healthy.

Boxie spent the time adding more wire to this Itoigawa Juniper.

Still a lot to do Mike.

I meanwhile tackled this Mame Juniper.

It now has it's first styling.

I brought my Maple into the light to show off the colour and could not resist another photo.

Love the Autumn colour.

The tree's this morning.

A photo of my trees this morning.
