Boulevard Cypress.

While looking round the garden today I noticed that my Boulevard Cypress was looking about ready for an after winter clean up.
------------------------------------------------

So just in case there is nothing to do tomorrow night I will save it for then.

The foliage needs a slight trim and the rest just needs a little tlc to tidy it up.

Free Juniper.

I was given this Juniper last night, by an old visitor who was just about giving up Bonsai.
--------------------------------------------

As the tree was not in a pot I placed it in a plastic bowl after giving it some water.

This morning I found this China Mist pot, which is a bit on the large size for the tree, but will be good as a training pot.

Good job I cleaned out the root ball as there was a lot of garden soil as well as ordinary potting compost. It is now in a really good mix which is free draining and will help the tree to thrive.

Natter night 15th April 2019.

A busy night once more, with four trees being brought along to be worked on.
--------------------------------------------------

Paul M brought two trees to get some advice on, first this Maple had a little wire added then branches were placed to create a slightly better image.

The second one, a small Larch, was worked on.

It was given a slight trim, to show a better shape.

Next we have Sue S, with her nice Hinoki Cypress, getting a clean out of dead foliage.

After work and a clean up of the pot, it looked much better.

This Tanuki Juniper, is another of Graham's trees.

Which he and Boxy did some rewiring on.

They created a rather nice image.

Finally this Juniper was given to me by Bob S who used to come to natter night but has now all but stopped doing Bonsai

Another future project.
Thanks Bob.

Hawthorn.

My Hawthorn is going to flower once again, as it does every year, but this year there are more flower buds than ever.
----------------------------------------

Collected yamadori some twenty odd years ago.

I expect the buds to open in the next couple of weeks.

I will post photos when they open.
There should be a good display.

Showing good concentration.

Before working.

After clipping.

Potted into a nice Esther Griffiths pot.

A good job done.

Berberis update.

My Berberis is waking up after it's winter sleep, which is always good to see.
---------------------------------------------------
This season I will be concentrating on getting the foliage sorted better.

The deadwood is aging well and starting to look more natural.

I am very pleased with it's progress at the moment.

Natter night 8th April 2019.

Quite a busy night once more with plenty of discussion going on about what and when to do things with different types of trees.
-----------------------------------------------

Boxy gave Graham some really good information on what to do with this nice Scots Pine.

I meanwhile did a little work on this Itoigawa Juniper, which belongs to Sue S, who has returned to Natter night once more.

-------------------------------------------------------
Over the last couple of days I have been working with wood again.
This Shohin stand has been varnished and looks quite good .

As has these two.

I also came across this piece of branch that had been chopped off a tree and decided to try to make an accent pot out of it.
Worked out quite good with some Black Grass planted in it.

Along with a scroll it made up a nice three point display.

Very happy with the work done.
