A day with Robert and Boxy.

Today I spent the day with Boxy and Robert learning a lot about Pines and other trees.
---------------------------------------------

When I arrived Robert was already busy working on trees.

Mike had ordered some good weather for our visit.

He then turned his attention to this large Maple.

Of which a lot of foliage ended up on the floor.

This nice Cork Bark Chinese Elm also got some work done.

A gorgeous JBP. after thinning out.

Nice Satsuki Azalea in flower.

Boxy kept an eye on the proceedings.

I am always amazed at the knowledge that comes from Robert, if I can only remember most of it.

Bonsai Thursday.

Before Dave came today I cleaned the bark and the deadwood on my Squamata and gave the deadwood a coat of lime sulpher.
-------------------------------------------------------

I am very pleased with the way it looks now.

A before any work was done photo, it looks a little bit rough but growing very well

Dave gave this Copper Beech group a bit of shape, as it is also growing good.

A little windy but the sun is still shining.

Bonsai Wednesday.

On my own again tonight as Tony and John had other things to do, so I started early on my Squamata Juniper.
--------------------------------------------
I say early, I was ready to start at 7-30 am, as it was a beautiful day I worked outside all day.

A bit more done and I had a short break and a coffee.

Almost finished, just the bark and deadwood to clean up now.

Back on the bench, catching the last ray's of sunshine.

I have really enjoyed my day and I am very happy with the result.

Squamata Juniper.

Having been left for about eighteen months to do it's own thing and grow, I thought it was time for a rewire on my Squamata Juniper.
------------------------------------------

Being left alone and a good feed has done this tree a lot of good with good growth all over.

Still a lot of wiring to do, but I will get there eventually.

Can you tell which bit I have done ?

Maybe tomorrow I will do some more.

Hawthorn deadheaded.

Today I have spent two hours deadheading my Hawthorn.
-----------------------------------------------------
This photo is from the SBA show just two weeks ago when it was in full flower.

Now after removing all the dead flowers, you can now see how green the foliage is.

These are the flower heads that were removed, I was going to count them, but talk about never ending.

Quite a wok full.

Natter night 13th May 2019.

A good night with good banter, good weather, good company and to finish off, good Bonsai.
---------------------------------------------------

The sunshine made us all work out in the garden tonight, even Boxy.
Tony in the background checking out my trees.

Graham brought this Siberian Elm for a little work.

After a little wiring and a trim.

Ken brought this Fir for a clean up and some bud selection.

The Fir looking much neater.

Ken also brought his cascade Hawthorn to be trimmed.

It even has some flowers this year as well.

As it was warm there was plenty of tea and coffee on the go.
