Bonsai Wednesday.

Dev came over tonight and brought his Taxus for the next stage of progression work.
--------------------------------------

The tree as it arrived, lots of growth and very healthy.

After a trim and a little more wire.

A few sacrifice branches have been removed to allow for more light penetration.

Natter night 29th july 2019.

A little late with this post, but better late then never.
----------------------------------------------------

First off tonight, this Chinese Juniper brought by Ken M was given a slight trim.

It looked a bit neater after the trim.

Meanwhile Boxy, watched closely by another newbie Gibby, started to wire this Beech tree.

During the styling Ken kept him right.

The finished tree styled as a windswept, looked very good for a first styling.

Kevin brought this Chinese Elm to get some advise on.

Graham brought this Cotoneaster to work on.

A little smaller than the Larch group he helped to do last week
.

It was another good night with everyone enjoying the joviality in the sunshine.

Natter night 22nd July 2019.

Well another late finish tonight as we tried to get the Larch group finished and styled.

Boxy and I started a bit early with adding wire.

As people arrived they also gave a hand to wire.

Ken M brought his cork bark Chinese Elm to see if he had got rid of the scale insect that had attacked it

A good time to show new boy Kevin what to look for and how to treat it.

No photos of me tweaking, but here are a couple of the tree so far.

Not the best pics but it was getting dark.

I will post a better one tomorrow when it is light.

A small job.

This is a small job we will attempt to get done tomorrow  at my Natter Night. This Larch group will be wired and maybe styled, if we get that far.
----------------------------------------------------------

Look out for my post tomorrow.

Number 2 tree of the week a Cotoneaster in bogwood. A young tree but growing well and taking shape fast.

Natter night 15th July 2019.

One of the best night's we have had for a while, the banter was great and everyone got stuck in to wire a big Larch group.
--------------------------------------------------

Boxy and I started by removing a lot of unwanted branches.

Graham and Kevin also got to work and added a good bit of wire.

Nice to see Ken M back in the garden once more.

A night of group plantings, this one is Ken's, which had a bit of a trim.

Kevin and I took time out to look around my trees.

The Larch group after we had finished for the night.

Many hands make light work,

Thanks to all who helped.

Tree of the week.

I have been thinking again, [ doesn't happen very often ] I am starting a new post of a tree of the week and here is the first one.
-------------------------------------------

Semi cascade Chinese Juniper in a very nice Ian Baillie pot.

Natter night 8th July 2019.

It was a quiet night, but we did welcome a newbie, Kevin made his first visit to see what goes on here at Ronin Bonsai on a Monday night.
-----------------------------------------

I did manage to get rid of a lot of the weeds that had grown while I was away, so the garden looked quite tidy.

As did my trees.

Graham brought this Chinese Juniper to work on, which he and Boxy wired.

Nice job lads.

Meanwhile I showed Kevin how to clean out this Hinoki ready to be given it's first styling.

Quite a nice trunkline, but still a lot of work to be done.

I hope Kevin enjoyed the night as much as we did and gained a little extra knowledge about our obsession with small trees.

Catching up.

This time last week I was away in Portugal, but on returning I find my trees have put on a lot of new growth, which will take a while to trim.
------------------------------------------------------

My Hawthorn is a perfect example of the new growth.

After a trim and a cleaning of the pot.

This Yew and Cotoneaster were also trimmed.

This Berberis was cleaned and trimmed on the 13th of June but was done again today.

When you see your trees every day you do not realise how much they grow, but when you have not seen them for a couple of weeks it shows very much.

Hinoki Cypress.

I picked up a couple of nice Hinoki Cypress yesterday, raw stock but something nice to play with.
-----------------------------------------------

Looking forward to finding the trees in here.

Bonsai Thursday.

Having just returned from holiday, { as if anyone noticed I was missing } I was surprised to see how much growth my trees have put on.

This Berberis was the subject of my last post on the 13th June, when it was cleaned and trimmed, now has extensions about five inches long and needs to be done again.

My Acer has also put on a lot of new growth.

My thanks to my daughter for watering my trees while I was away.
