A visit to John's.

Tonight I had to go out for a while and decided to call in to see John as I was in his area.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is his Boulevard Cypress that was styled a few months ago, he is going to bring it up tomorrow for our Bonsai Wednesday.

An Oak doing well.

His Hawthorn is recovering after it's recent restyle.

I don's know what he has in store for this Procumbens Juniper he has obtained.

Watch for my post tomorrow to see what the Cypress looks like.

Ken's Hawthorn.

Ken left his Hawthorn with me last night, so I could have a go cleaning up the deadwood, when I had time.
-------------------------------------------------------

The tree after a trim last night.

The Shari during cleaning.

Finished with a coat of deadwood preserver from Kaizen bonsai.
I prefer this coating on broardleaf trees as it looks.more natural.

Natter night 6th August 2018.

Another busy night with plenty trees to work on.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This first tree a very nice Cork Bark Elm, which Robert brought for some advice.

It's a funny thing that trees of the same variety turn up at the same time, as Boxy also brought another Cork Bark Elm to be dewired, which Tony said he would do.

The angle was so he could see where the wires were and not cut branches off.

Then Boxy gave it a trim.

This is Ken's Hawthorn, back for another clip out.

After a slight prune it is back in shape.

This Maple which Robert brought at first sight looks like all it needed was a trim, but on closer inspection shows it needs a lot of work to make it into a nice tree and a long time to correct the faults.

After explaining the bad parts of the tree to Robert a course of action was planned for the future.

The tree will be potted into a more suitable pot in the spring and one branch air layered off.
I do not think trees should be potted into seed trays, as this one is, as they are too flexible to keep the roots steady

Another visitor tonight, quite apt for a natter night, a Natter-jack toad.{ I think }

As the light dims.

It's that time of day again, when the sun starts to go down, the time to water the trees once more.
--------------------------------------------------------------
I find it quite therapeutic watering the trees, mind you it has been said that I am in need of therapy.

But it does make the trees look good when they are wet.

Found it.

After another bout of wiring I have finished the first styling of my Mugo pine.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I am very happy with this image.

This is how it started, I always thought there was a good tree in here.

Bonsai Thursday with Dave.

A good day with Dave today, I lifted the Mugo pine into the studio and we started to look for the image I knew was there somewhere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The tree as I got it.

After an initial prune.

After a lot of wire was added, you can see an image starting to appear.

Enough for tonight, no good working when you are tired, that's when you make mistakes.

I am very pleased with how it is starting to look.

Bonsai Wednesday.

John, Tony and Dev turned up tonight and all three of them brought trees to be worked on.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first tree tonight was Tony's Juniper, which he had finished wiring.

It had the branches placed.

Then a trim.

The final image for now.

Next was this small Hawthorn which Dev brought.

I gave Dev the task of wiring the entire tree.

Another nice image emerged.

Finally John's Taxus, which he had wired and styled.

After a slight alteration and a little trim.

Three nice trees taking shape.

Hurry up and take the photo Tony, I'm getting wet.

An enjoyable night was had by all.
